AI models & API keys

Magnus runs on the frontier model of your choice. You can bring your own API keys, use the credits included in the All-inclusive plan, or mix models across agents.

Supported providers

Magnus supports Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and xAI Grok. All of them stream answers live into the chat; Claude additionally powers hosted web search and reads attached PDFs natively. Each provider has its own deep-dive page in the AI models section of this help center.

Bring your own keys

  1. Open Settings and find the API keys section.
  2. Paste the key for your provider (for example an sk-ant-... key from the Anthropic console).
  3. Keys are stored encrypted, per account, on the server - they are never exposed back to the browser; the app only ever shows whether a key is set.
  4. Remove or replace a key at any time; removing it simply disables that provider until a new key is added.

Included models (All-inclusive plan)

On the All-inclusive plan you skip keys entirely: 2,000 AI credits are included every month and work across all supported providers. Credits are consumed as you use AI - heavier models and longer conversations consume more. Top-up packs of 500 credits ($9.99) never expire.

Your remaining balance and per-provider usage are visible in your profile, so there are never surprises.

Different models for different agents

Each agent persona can run on its own model - a Claude strategist next to a Grok researcher. Set the model in the agent's settings from the agent bar. Debates and roundtables then genuinely cross model families.
