Status

Expected soon. OpenAI has not announced a release date. If the GPT-5.6 pattern holds, Magnesium is the tier built for high-volume, latency-sensitive work - the successor to the role GPT-5.6 Luna plays today.

What to expect

The light tier is historically the value story of each GPT generation: most of the family's quality at a fraction of the price. Benchmarks will be added here when OpenAI publishes them - we do not reprint pre-launch rumours as numbers.

Availability on Magnus

When the API goes live, Magnesium appears in the model picker for OpenAI keys and on the All-inclusive plan without any action on your side. Credit pricing will be set from the published API price at launch.

  1. Open Settings and pick OpenAI as your provider (it is included in your plan).
  2. When Magnesium appears in the model picker, select it - existing agents keep their history when you switch models.
  3. Watch What's New and the changelog - every roster addition is announced there.
